Hello, Region Leaders,

I will be opening registration for the June region meeting this week. Can you please reply with how long you would like your region meeting to be scheduled after the education portion? Please reply by Wednesday, May 26.

June Agenda

Based on your feedback the format of the June meeting will be virtual. We will start the education portion of the meeting at 10, have the MHCA update at 11, then region meetings will start at 11:15 and go as long as you would like.

Thank you!

Subject: Region Update and June Topic Question

Good morning, Region Leaders,

I hope you had a good weekend! I have a few questions and updates for you- I will try to keep this short!

Thank you!

Happy Volunteer’s Week! We are so grateful to you for volunteering for your regions. Thank you for your time and leadership!

June Topic Objectives

During the March Region Meeting we hosted a poll that asked attendees what topic they would like to see for the June Region Meeting. They chose Infection Prevention and Surveillance. The infection control speaker needs a little more clarity on what attendees might be looking for during an infection prevention webinar. What three objectives below should we focus on for June? Can you please let me know by Friday, April 23?

Choose three.

  1. Describe Minnesota regulations related to infection control in home care.
  2. Identify ways to implement antibiotic stewardship and effective infection control in the home care setting.
  3. Explain measures and interventions to prevent infection control related deficiencies in your MDH survey.
  4. Examine infection control strategies to reduce the risk of infectious disease exposure.
  5. Review how to select safety precautions according to the type of disease transmission.
  6. Determine how to select the appropriate forms of personal protective equipment and discuss techniques to reduce the risk of skin injuries related to its use.
  7. Discuss the most recent expectations for infection prevention and control.
  8. Explain the key process items from systems, assessment and tracking.
  9. Learn three leadership strategies to successfully implement an infection prevention and control program.

(A close second was Emergency Preparedness Demobilization. There is a free webinar on demobilization called Navigating the Transition with Strength: Developing strategies through the phases of COVID here: https://wellnessmn.org/ We have been running it in the Informer but I thought I would just give it another plug, just in case!)

June Agenda

Based on your feedback the format of the June meeting will be virtual. We will start the education portion of the meeting at 10, have the MHCA update at 11, then region meetings will start at 11:15 and go as long as you would like.

September Agenda

We will have the opportunity for a hybrid approach for the September meeting. As region leaders you can choose if you would like your region to meet in-person. I would then send you the link and you would gather and watch the education together. As the region leader you could select what time your region starts. We will have some COVID meeting protocols to send to you to help but it will also be up to you to find the location to host the meeting and make sure you and the location have some protocols in place for a safe meeting. With the in-person option we will still give attendees that are not able to meet in person, the opportunity to be sent the education link to watch the webinar. They will not be able to attend the networking portion of the meeting. We have heard a lot of feedback from the evaluations that members are ready to meet in person again!

The other option is to keep your region meeting virtual and we will have a breakout room for you to meet with the same agenda model as the June Meeting.

There is plenty of time for you to consider which route you would like to go for the September meeting. If you are leaning towards the in-person option please remember to get a space reserved!

As always please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the infection prevention objectives.

Thank you so much!
