Greetings Region Leaders,

I hope you’re all gearing up for a fun 4^th of July holiday!

The MHCA Board of Directors is meeting in July and would like a report on the May Region meeting discussions. Please send at your earliest convenience, any notes/recollections of the conversation you have. As a reminder, this was the discussion the Board had regarding the region meetings (structure, value of, etc.).

Also – we have a potential speaker lined up for December 4. Her name is Georgia Afton and she works for Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly. Her topic would be (title not official) “Combatting Loneliness”, with the following objectives:

Define loneliness in the senior adult population and utilize research reports to explore the breadth of occurrence, causes and impacts to emotional and physical health.
Review assessment tools to help identify loneliness in the seniors you serve.
Develop responses to loneliness in the context of the senior experience.

If you could, let me know if this topic sounds of interest to you. The webinar would be approved for nursing and social work CEU.

Lastly, at the December 4^th meeting, we are thinking of sending members of the newly formed Advocacy Committee to each of the Regions to guide a discussion on grassroots advocacy. What topics related to advocacy do you think would be of interest to members? Would you be willing to dedicate 30ish minutes to a conversation?
