Subject: NAHC Action Alert re: F2F Documentation Requirement

Members of the Forum and Homecare Listserves:

Last week we sent a letter to CMS requesting the use of a phase-in approach with the new requirements in the physician face-to-face (F2F) encounter rule that take effect on January 1 (NAHC F2F Phase-In Letter to CMS<http://www.congressweb.com/assets/BackgroundDocuments/054955CF-F19D-414D-EFB4F9F43B73ACB9/F2F%20phase-in%20proposal.pdf>). As you know, CMS has not issued any guidance or initiated any education on the new requirement that physicians have sufficient documentation in their own files to support the certification of homebound status and skilled care need.

Please take a moment to weigh in with CMS and your legislators supporting our request for a phase-in approach to enforcement. The message to CMS and your legislators is “Phase-in the new F2F documentation requirements by issuing comprehensive guidance on compliance and education of physicians and home health agencies before instituting full enforcement.”

To send a message to the CMS Administrator through the NAHC Legislative Action Network, go here: Write to CMS Administrator<http://www.congressweb.com/nahcadvocacy/246>. To your legislators, go here: Write Your Legislators<http://www.congressweb.com/nahcadvocacy/247>.

Thanks,
NAHC Advocacy Team
