I had a conversation with Judy this afternoon and wanted you to be aware of an email we’ll be sending tomorrow.

The State Health Care Coalitionis receiving erroneous and inappropriate PPE requests from the home care industry and are not able to keep up with the required follow-up that is required. A model of sending PPE to the Board of Dentistry for distribution worked and they have asked for our help. Although recognizing that this will be a logistical challenge, we are putting a plan in place to meet the needs of our members.

Any agencies that are affiliated with a hospital are supposed to continue ordering through the hospital so we will NOT send our correspondence tomorrow to those members.

The tentative plan is that orders will continue to go to the state and they’ll redirect them to MHCA. Staff will take supplies to a few locations around the state and members will need to meet us there for pick-up. We will provide supplies to members; non-members are welcome to join!

We expect to receive the supplies as soon as the end of next week.

On a related COVID note, we are forming a Home Care COVID Coalition, including a couple of MHCA members, a few MDH reps and someone from Stratis Health. We will likely engage more members later as we develop resources. I’ll share more on that later.
