Subject: INVITATION TO FORUM ON LONG-TERM CARE FINANCING
Hello! You were suggested as someone who might be interested in attending a forum that Emily Piper, Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Human Services, is sponsoring on December 7, 2018. The results of work done under a Dayton
initiative called “Own Your Future” will be presented. This effort has focused on the issue of how to pay for the long-term care that will be needed in the future by the state’s older population, and how we can encourage people to plan for this eventuality.
We have worked to identify more affordable private insurance and financial products that could help middle income households pay for more of their long-term care and not need to use Medical Assistance (MA) as much as they now do. As we experience dramatic
increases in Minnesota’s aging population, the potential growth in MA could have a serious impact on the state’s health and long-term care budget.
The forum will present more information about these options and next steps for the work on long-term care financing. See the attached PROMO and use the link included
below to register. Please share this invitation with others who would be interested in this topic. Hope to see you there!
