We have an opportunity to join a national advocacy effort to draw attention to the recently proposed Home Health Groupings Model (HHGM). We will place this request in the Informer for all members. Because I know how busy you likely are following a long-weekend, I am also sending this directly to members of the MHCA Board, Legislative Team and Medicare Team  - will you please consider taking just a couple minutes to participate in this advocacy initiative (the system is easy to use).

Subject: RE: Council Advocacy Materials

Tim & Vicki –

The Partnership for Quality Home Healthcare has launched a new grassroots platform to inform lawmakers and the public that the home health community is asking Congress to help ensure CMS withdraws the proposed Home Health Groupings Model (HHGM) from the proposed rule.  The advocacy platform lives on the Partnership website and is very easy to navigate.  It allows advocates to email their Senators and House Representatives as well as submit a letter to their local newspaper.

We encourage state associations and their members to utilize this important tool to express their concerns related to HHGM and put pressure on Congress to help stop HHGM from being finalized in the rule.

We would love for you to share this link with the Council members and encourage them to activate their membership so that we can drum up as much activity as possible before the September 25 comment period deadline.

If you have questions about the grassroots site, please reach out to the Ellen Almond at Schmidt Public Affairs and she can help.

Appreciate all the efforts of the States to raise awareness and action by Congress!

Thank you,

Sarah

Subject: Council Advocacy Materials

Good morning Tim and Vicki –

As promised, please find attached the materials on the rural safeguard as well as the HHGM; these are the top two critical legislative messaging topics for which specific materials have been developed. The Schmidt team is ready and willing to augment the Council of States’ planned activities with media outreach.

We appreciate very much the incorporation of the materials into State advocacy efforts and look forward to ensuring everyone understands these issues, messages and timing through presentations coming up at the Summit.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Sarah
