Maybe one way to influence the future of NAHC would be to get a board member from MN. Our Region V seat is apparently open this year (see below)!!

I will say that the region reps are to reach out to their states and I only learned of these reps at a meeting last year and have never heard from our rep.

MedPAC 2017 Medicare Data Book Shows Home Care Stabilization

Earlier this month the Medicare Payment Advisory Committee (MedPAC) released their 2017 data book on Medicare spending. While this report is a comprehensive look at all Medicare spending, naturally, we focused our attention on the post acute care sector, specifically home care and hospice data.

Home Care

Over the past six years, the number of home health agencies has held steady in the low-to-mid 12,000s, with a total of 12,313 in 2016. From 2009 to 2016, the number of home health agencies grew a modest, but respectable 2.2 percent. This data is encouraging, as it suggests stabilization in the industry. In the past, we’ve seen large increases in the number of agencies, particularly in Florida and Texas that coincided with a rise in fraudulent activity. The number of agencies in Texas and Florida declined in the last year. As NAHC has made clear for many years, program integrity is critical to the health and success of the industry and home care needs more members of the sort we have in NAHC, rather than fly-by-night operators who damage the reputation of the industry.

Call for Nominations for NAHC Board of Directors

Every year during the month of September, members of the National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC) have the opportunity to cast their votes for candidates for various seats on the NAHC Board of Directors, as well as for members of the NAHC nominating committee for the subsequent year’s election cycle. To ensure continuity, the NAHC bylaws specify that half of the NAHC Board is up for election each year. Any NAHC member in good standing as of July 1, 2017, and otherwise eligible may run for a seat on the Board or its Nominating Committee, and we encourage all interested and qualified parties to submit their information for consideration.

For 2017, the following seats are up for election:
