Thank you all for a successful 2016 and for your on-going commitment to MHCA! The staff appreciates all that you do to help us and the membership.

With the holidays literally around the corner, I will keep this update short but am happy to chat with you about any of the topics if you are interested in more info!

Advocacy:

§  The Electronic Visit Verification mandate for all MA providers was passed in the 21st Century Cures bill and the states now need to determine how this will be rolled out in each state. We are in discussions about this and anticipate it being an agenda item for the January meeting.

§  Jay and I met with Shelly, Exec Director for MN First Provider Alliance (PCA association). This was approached as an introduction meeting.

§  I met with MN Council of Health Plans

§  We are tracking the LTC Imperative legislation on Elderly Waivers

Operations

§  At the staff retreat, we identified a few key issues to focus on in 2017, many of which align with our strategic discussions:

o   Enhancing our messaging on the value of membership

o   Learning more about the needs for PCA agencies, as we target them for membership; I will be arranging for PCA education for the staff

o   Adding a Nurse Consultant Corner to the Informer once month

o   Continue to work on the re-development and enhancement of the region meetings – incorporating recruitment strategies, MHCA updates, etc

o   AND……the most important one that has also been confirmed by the membership consultant: Website re-design - stay tuned for more ideas!

§  We have a potential candidate for the part-time membership position…..I am hoping to be able to share good news with you on this front – wish me luck!!

Merry Christmas…..Happy New Year…..and Happy Holidays to all.
