The MHCA office will be closed Thursday and Friday for the holiday. I will also be out of the office on Weds. A few updates since our November meeting follow:
LeadingAge Board:
Jay and I presented to the Board last week and it was well received. Gayle and the Board Chair indicated that it covered just what they were looking for. The Imperative passed the legislative
agenda that includes EW Waiver and Workforce. Kevin and I will be meeting with them to discuss the details and bring this back to the MHCA Legislative Team. One of the additional ideas for collaboration that was raised was ‘technology.’
Online Education: We are pleased to have finalized a revenue share agreement with
Curaport. The Curaport Network brings together news, content,
tools, and learning programs from credited, trusted information sources. Curated by a leading group of advisors, consultants, key thought leaders, and content affiliates, Curaport is THE news and information portal for the Healthcare Continuum, with some home
health specific courses. Users will gain truly applicable education from industry leaders and partners that they can take back to their agency and put to immediate and intended use. MHCA will promote applicable online courses and receive a share of the revenue.
There was no cost to beta test this and it increases the 24/7 availability of education for our members! I was introduced to one of the Curaport founders at the Council of States Leadership Summit in August.
The Board on Aging is looking to expand the Long-Term Options program which assists people with non-home care related
transition in their homes. If the bill passes this session, there may be dollars available for marketing and referrals and they’re interested in talking with MHCA about a potential role. Stay tuned on this potential revenue source.
DHS Stakeholder Meeting: The DHS Aging and Adult Services Division (AASD) and Disability Services Division (DSD) invited MHCA to attend a stakeholder meeting on where they will share information regarding a proposal to establish
baseline service documentation requirements for the delivery of all home and community-based waiver services. Background information and draft language will be shared and feedback will be taken. I’ve invited the Chairs of our Legislative and MA Teams to join
me, as well as Anni Simons.
MDH Asst Commissioner, Gil Acevedo, is bringing the fairly new
Division Director for Health Regulation Division, Nancy Omondi for an introductory MHCA meeting tomorrow. You may recall this was the position that we were involved in interviewing for. I believe this special effort is reflective of the Gil’s
collaborative nature and look forward to developing a relationship with Nancy.
MN First Provider Alliance:
Jay and I are scheduled to meet with the Exec Director of the newly formed PCA alliance Dec 6th. They held their first member meeting last week.
As always, please let me know if you have questions!
Wishing you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!!
