I doubt that any of you knew Bill Borne, but just in case….he was the founder and former CEO of Amedisys, a home health and hospice organization and was just identified as a victim of the flooding in Louisiana (see article below). They
list an agency in MN but they are not members of MHCA. Amedisys is active in other state associations across the nation. Heart-breaking! Please say a prayer/send good thoughts to our friends in Louisiana who are battling the floods!
Other brief updates include:
-
We had an excellent Council of State Leadership Summit and I will be sharing various nuggets with you over the next months. Brian Ellsworth did a presentation on VBP, which I will send in a separate email due to the size.
-
F2F Dialogue: I talked with Lorry Massa, MHA CEO about MHA support for educating/informing their members on the F2F requirements. He is going to talk with his staff about options and they will lend their support to the Home Health Care
Planning Improvement Act (S.578; H.R.1342) that would allow Nurse Practitioners (NP) and Physician Assistants (PA) to certify and make changes to home health plans of treatment.
-
MA F2F: 4 members joined me in a meeting with DHS to discuss the MA F2F and offer our assistance as they develop MN’s program. It will be implemented July 1, 2017 and I strongly encouraged advanced info.
-
Some of the state associations are rolling out “Bring the Vote Home,” a national initiative to get seniors out to vote. Home care staff are providing information to their clients. Do you
think MHCA members would want to get involved with this? Please share your thoughts!

BATON ROUGE - The East Baton Rouge Coroner has identified the ninth confirmed victim of devastating flooding in the Baton Rouge area.
The body of Bill Borne was recovered off Hoo Shoo Too Road.
Borne was the founder and former CEO of Amedisys in Baton Rouge. Amedisys is a home health services company and is now a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange. He resided in Mallard Lakes, according to a person
who helped search for him.
The discovery of Borne's body brings the flood-related fatality total to nine. Borne was among the people listed on WBRZ.com's listed of missing persons as storm recovery efforts began to ramp up. He was last seen at around 2
a.m. on Sunday, according to family. His red ATV was found in water along a boat launch at the Mallard Lakes subdivision off Hoo Shoo Too Road. His daughter said she believed he had fallen and injured his head.
More details are expected.
