I would agree with Jay. As far a UCare goes my entire office cheered when they heard we won’t have to work with them for dual eligibles after Jan. 1.

Subject: RE: DHS drops UCare - seeking your input
In response to your request for input on MHCA’s position, I think our focus should be on -
1. ensuring that clients who are current UCare clients have a clear and painless path to their new coverage (with whatever company they choose), and,
2. that they can stay with their current provider if that’s their preference.
I don’t believe MHCA should be arguing whether UCare should or should not have been dropped.
It appears that UCare lost their place on the provider list as a result of a formal DHS procurement process.
Normally DHS procurements are quite structured, transparent and receive a fair amount of oversight.
Also , there is usually a formal protest process that UCare may access if they believe the procurement was unfair or did not follow the required procedures.
UCare and DHS can sort that out without our help.

Subject: DHS drops UCare - seeking your input
We are planning to send this members tomorrow (calls started today; thanks to Jay for sharing the actual correspondence with me). They can choose whether to follow-through, as requested by UCare.
I welcome your input on whether MHCA should share our perspective as an organization.
