I suspect you are wondering how my meeting with ‘MCCA’ went Tuesday! The delay in communication was due to my hope that we would have more information by now. Here’s the update:
·
The LeadingAge and MHA CEOs had received information from the MCCA controller that MCCA was subsidizing MHCA by $30,000 with the plan we had agreed to. This variance was significantly different than their understanding from the
Office Manager (and what was shared with MHCA) and they were going to seek clarification.
·
MCCA had just received the pricing for the office expansion that is required in order to lease out space to us and they wanted to re-run overhead numbers. This could mean that the offer would change and we do not know how substantially.
·
I learned Tuesday that Gayle (LeadingAge CEO) was going on a 6 week sabbatical, as of last night. She indicated that I would be told who the back-up point person would be but I have not yet received that name. She indicated that
she would remain ‘on the grid’ until this was resolved – and that it could go into next week.
·
I indicated that we needed to know by Monday or Tuesday. That would only give us 2 weeks to finalize negotiations and sign a contract with MCCA. And, Annie needs to secure equipment contracts if we are remaining in our current
office. We are truly down to the wire now.
·
As for the conference room question (what had been the only outstanding issue)…..I shared our request but I didn’t get a sense of their reaction. It was on a conference call and they were focused on the new financial analysis.
·
Jan and I just talked and decided that I will call the LeadingAge Board Chair tomorrow am, if I haven’t received a contact person or further information. I know him well as we worked together in my last position. We also would
like to schedule another conference call with the MHCA Board for Tuesday or Weds so that we can make a decision about MHCA office space.
We realize that we are coming up on a holiday weekend and hoping that we can catch a majority before people leave town. Please complete this
doodle survey with your availability. In the meantime, you can send a dose a patience my way
J
