I don’t know the answer but here are some links. . .which I am sure you already know/found.

  1. MN DHS Disqualifications https://mn.gov/dhs/general-public/background-studies/disqualifications/; which leads to the statutes and states the law defines the acts that disqualify a person from working in certain programs or having access to people served.
  2. MN Statutes disqualification from direct contact https://www.revisor.mn.gov/statutes/cite/245C.14; I don’t see animal cruelty listed
  3. MN Statutes disqualifying crimes or conduct https://www.revisor.mn.gov/statutes/cite/245C.15;l again I don’t see animal cruelty listed

Also – since there is no conviction, innocent until proven guilty, I don’t think the MN DHS regulatory or MN Statutes cover that.  If convicted, since it was a death, I believe it would be a felony.  But again, the statutes I attached don’t list that specific felony as a disqualification for MN DHS employment.

Full Disclosure – not a lawyer 😊  Just information I have dug up on good old google!

Does anyone know the answer to this question? I’m not even sure where to look for it!

Can someone work as a home health aide if they have charges for animal cruelty, for killing an animal, no conviction yet?

Kind Regards,
