The MHCA team is growing……and no, we are not hiring!!
Brianna is expecting a baby boy in late June! Please join me in congratulating her when you see her.
Also, you may or may not be aware that Lauren is getting married in September and Dan is planning a 2025 wedding!
Now, back to business with an Executive Director Update……
Advocacy/Committees
- We are gearing up for the next legislative session, which begins Feb 12.
- We are continuing our meetings with DHS to work through our non-legislative advocacy priorities.
- The MHCA committees have started their 2024 meetings. We are excited to have quite a few new members engaged, as well as many who are continuing to serve.
- The IDEA and Safety Task Forces are moving forward with enthusiasm, ideas, and resources. We plan to share a safety guide, complete with a resource list within a couple of weeks.
Administrative/Operations
- MHCA membership grace period ends Jan 31st and we have 19 members who have not yet renewed. This is not uncommon but we are ramping up our doggedness (I believe 8-10 notices
have gone out to each one).
- 3 county home care agencies have now closed in the past year.
- We have welcomed 3 new members this year!!
- We are continuing to enhance our finance/administrative processes and working through the financial contractor transition.
- There is a new transitional board in place as the NAHC/NHPCO consolidation moves along. They hope to have a new CEO leading the merged org by mid-year. It’s my understanding that Bill
Dombi will continue on in an advisory role, but details haven’t been shared yet.
- Kristy, Andrea, Brianna and I met with the MNHPC Board Chair and Interim Executive Director yesterday. They are exploring what their members need and want from MNHPC and will be in
a better position to discuss potential collaborative opportunities later this year.
