I have several updates for you, which cross various areas so I’m not following my usual breakdown of categories.

 

Strategic Plan

As instructed, two items have been added to the strategic plan. Please let me know if you have questions about these new items.

 

Leadership Development Committee Update

With Joelle Goldade leaving home care and one of the LDC members applying for a board position, Kristy has appointed two board members to join the LDC for the remainder of the year. Thank you to Sue and Laura, for your willingness to assist us with this process.

 

The great news is that we have more applications that we’ve had in my tenure! So our outreach efforts have been fruitful. We are grateful for a wise and thoughtful group of members that will be reviewing the applications and bringing a ballot of candidates for members to vote on.

 

Office Update

I was able to learn a bit more about the potential (and likely) office move. While it needs to be confirmed, we believe that the building owners will cover the cost of MHCA’s move, as a part of our sub-lease agreement with Trellis. Trellis is also offering us the opportunity to participate in designing our space. I will have the opportunity to see the final sites under consideration and weigh in with my opinion. A couple of top options will be brought to the Trellis board for the final decision. The anticipated move date will be close to the 2024 Annual Meeting and Trellis leaders have assured me that they’ll help work around that event. Trellis anticipates sharing the news with their staff around Sept 11 so this remains confidential.

 

Outstanding Government Relations Representation

It’s no surprise to us that we have the best in town representing us, but it’s wonderful to see that others concur! Kevin Goodno was among several of his colleagues at Fredrikson and Byron who were recently recognized by The Best Lawyers in America 2024! Congrats to Kevin!

 

MNHPC Relationship

Lastly, I want to share that the MNHPC Executive Director is leaving her position for a national hospice role. I will monitor our relationship through the transition and plan to reach out to the Board Chair.
