The Final Rule was published within the last hour – late in the day of Halloween, as CMS is known for! Stay tuned – MHCA will send a brief overview tomorrow. Here’s a brief overview:

 

CY2023 payment update 0.7 percent (includes a 4.0% Marketbasket update) (Proposed rule MB was 3.3%)

Permanent adjustment is finalized at 7.85% (worse than proposed) but for CY2023, Permanent adjustment is 3.925%.

 

Bottom Line:  We got some relief for calendar year CY2023 only (but they increased the overall Perm adjustment from 7.69 to 7.85%) and the temporary adjustments (clawback) still loom. It is what we expected – phasing in the first year of the permanent cut. CMS has NOT changed their methodology at all – very problematic for industry.  This rule sets in motion massive cuts that will have long term negative consequences for HH.

 

It’s truly a “trick or treat” Final Rule!
