It sounds like a great place to start although I don’t know enough to know if that dollar amount will be of significance. Are there any strings attached? If not, I am in support.

Happy Friday all,

Katie

Hello –

I just received word from UnitedHealthcare that they would like to provide an “inaugural sponsorship of an educational financial assistance fund of $5K.” I had chatted briefly with a UHC representative a while back and we talked about the need for workforce initiatives – this was a spontaneous brainstorm and I would have expected a dialogue as a next step so this came as a surprise to me.

He is asking for an invoice by Tuesday and I am certain They want this to be a 2021 expense. They are aware that we are a 501c6 and assured me that there will be no reporting requirements for the sponsorship.

While I would much prefer to have a program established before accepting dollars, I’m not sure we want to turn this away. Are you comfortable with moving forward accepting this and assigning the Workforce Workgroup to establish a workforce fund for members?

Daniel indicated that UHC hopes that this begins the process of a good working relationship between our two organizations. Brianna and I just wrapped up a call with UHC Community and State MN Health Plan also.

Please let me know ASAP if you do not believe we should accept this sponsorship. Thank you!

Be Well,

Kathy Messerli
