Subject: Message to Governor
Greetings,
I’m following up on the advocacy we need to do with the Governor’s office. Will you please send a message (today or Monday), using the Governor’s contact form on his website, located at the bottom of this webpage? I will also email his policy advisor directly.
We’d like the message be a CUSTOMIMZED version of the following speaking points:
· Introduce yourself and your relationship to home care
· I am reaching out to ask you to support the proposed investments in home care nursing and home health services for older Minnesotans and those with complex health needs.
· Specifically, the Senate Health and Human Services Omnibus bill contains a provision that would implement an annual rate adjustment to the Medical Assistance reimbursement rates for home care nursing and home health services, and I am asking you to support this critical investment.
· Without this long overdue and much needed adjustment to the Medical Assistance rates for home care nursing and home health services, access to these critical services will continue to be a significant challenge for the Minnesotans who rely on these services to remain living as independently as possible for as long as possible. INSERT BRIEF PERSONALIZED INFORMATION HERE ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH LOW WAGES AFFORDED UNDER CURRNET REIMBURSMENT RATE AND RESULTING INABILITY TO FIND AND KEEP STAFF.
· Home care nursing and home health services are separate and distinct from the Personal Care Assistant program, and have a different rate reimbursement system. The Gov has misunderstood this in the past so it’s an important point to make
· We have appreciated the Governor’s interest in how to best support older Minnesotans and those with complex health needs to remain living in their homes/with their families for as long as possible, and home care nursing and home health services are two of the most critical supports that help achieve this goal. Please advocate for these proposed critical investments.
Thank you!!
Be Well,
