Hello all –

We have seen a shift in the post-acute setting of care…more so on the hospice side than home health.

It appears as though the patients/families are more concerned about the visitor restrictions than COVID. In fact, some patients are COVID positive going on hospice…and they are choosing home so family can be with them.

Hope that makes sense.

Kristy 😊

A good friend of mine has new neighbors – a 90 year old couple bought a home on the lake because they were afraid of catching COVID in the assisted living facility that they were living in.

Yes, some families are not sending loved ones to the SNFs. We have also seen several instances where people (both COVID positive and negative) wanted to go to the nursing home, but the nursing homes were not accepting patients.

I have not heard about anyone leaving the area aside from the routine snowbirds.

I don’t have much to share…

A local reporter reached out to me for insights on “folks leaving/not moving into nursing homes due to Covid. I read a National piece about that trend but was reaching out to various groups here in the Twin Cities to see if that trend exists here?”

While I have heard a little bit of anecdotal information, I don’t feel that I have enough to share. If you have seen trends and can share just a bit with me today, that would be greatly appreciated.

Be Well,
