Wow Katie – way to get through the craziest survey of all time!
We too are at max capacity on a regular basis….just trying to do what we can to keep people at home, but its definitely a challenge!
PS – loved Bill’s update and listening to Kevin now. Great work MHCA team on putting together a great, interactive virtual conference so far!

In our area, there is also extra demand on home care because not all of the skilled nursing facilities are not taking COVID positive patients. This is especially concerning because not everyone has adequate support at home or is appropriate
to go home.
Related, but not related – our full home care survey started on 10/27 (we were due by June 1) and was then suspended on 10/29 because one of the two surveyors tested positive for COVID. We were finally able to finish it on 11/10.
Good luck everyone!

It would be great if payers suddenly realized the need to ensure our home care services and agencies are financially rewarded for value delivered.

I received official word from the MN Hospital Association today that hospitals are having to keep patients longer than they prefer because there’s a back-log on home care orders. The good news is that they are
finally recognizing the value of home care and the providers’ ability to care for complex needs in the home. The downside, of course, is that home care is also facing staffing challenges. It’s possible that home care will become an enhanced media focus in
the coming days/weeks and wanted to alert you to that.
I look forward to ‘seeing’ you all at the Annual Meeting next week!
Be Well,
