Dear MHCA Board Members

As you may already be aware, there have been significant developments at the MN Department of Human Services in recent days. Late last week news broke that DHS’s two Deputy Commissioners, Claire Wilson and Chuck Johnson, had resigned. This follows the Inspector General, Carolyn Ham being put on paid leave in March and about a month after the medical director of Minnesota’s Medicaid program, Dr. Jeff Schiff left the agency immediately. Following last week’s development, it was announced this morning that DHS Commissioner Tony Lourey has resigned effective immediately, and Pam Wheelock will become Acting Commissioner of DHS. The Pioneer Press published this article and there will likely be further media coverage today and in the coming days.

We will remain vigilant in following this news and alert members if we become aware of specific implications they will experience.

This will be included in Wednesday’s Informer and I will notify the Advocacy Committee members.
