Thank you so much Judy for your input. I was going to send an email today reminding board members that I’d like feedback by tomorrow.

That was one of the concerns. We did think it was important to have a representative liaison between each work group and the advocacy committee. On the application I plan to indicate approx four mtgs by each work group for clarity purposes. While that is stated once on this document we could add it to each work group - it just seemed to be so repetitive and make it longer for members to read. With that said. I invite the board members to weigh in.

Stay safe everyone!! The MCCA office is officially closed today as well as the metro schools. Mandy did not get any snow and will be taking calls that go through the automated system, while Melissa and I are working from home and doing the 2 team meetings via zoom. Happy Spring 😉

Thanks Kathy,

I believe this mostly reflects our discussion during the last board meeting. I usually take my own notes but was focused on recording the minutes. I don't recall the requirement that a member of each workgroup or committee would also a member of the Advocacy Committee. That might be a heavy lift for some folks, since the Advocacy Committee will meet 9-11 months in the year and those members will also have their workgroup meetings. Because there are responsibilities beyond meeting attendance, should we attempt to give a better estimate of the time commitment?

I support the suggested language change to current policy on composition of workgroup and committees.

Attached is a draft of the new committee structure for your review. We will also create an application and will note more clearly the frequency of the workgroup meetings on that document.

I would like input on two items:

  1. Does this appropriately portray the discussion at the board meeting? I will also create talking points for the region meetings that will align with this document and my Exec Director report at the Business Meeting.
  2. As we discussed the needs of various committees and workgroup, we believe that the protocol for committee membership should be revised. We currently indicate that ALL team members must be members and we may want to make an exception on a group such as payment reform, where state agencies staff could bring value to the discussions. Our current policy also stipulates that only one Business Partner can serve on a team; we actually made a few exceptions this past year and with combining some of the teams, I think we may want to include more than one BP (e.g. home care consultants and an attorney). The staff recommends the following change be made to allow for ‘agility’ in committee assignments.

Current policy:

Must be from MHCA voting member organization (an exception will be made for up to one Business Partner per team, as space allows).

Suggested language:

The committee and workgroups assignments will be made to ensure that MHCA is staying up-to-date on issues pertaining to all members and moving the MHCA strategic plan forward. Individual expertise and agency types will be taken into consideration.

Your input by Thursday will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
