Hello,
Our agency uses EPIC and yes, we do copy and paste in the "Med Management" form under Med Management Comments box in each visit. When we switched to EPIC we did not like this option or think it was doable but has actually worked out okay for our staff. We copy and paste that section from previous week's visit to the next visit and our staff are very careful to make sure that if changes have occurred since last visit, they need to modify that with each visit. We've only run into a couple scenarios where we've caught things not being updated correctly but they have been caught timely and updated correctly. We also leave a medication list in the home with how the medications are setup as well, that way the patient has a copy and if there are any discrepancies we refer to that as well.  It's worked out better than we were expecting to be honest, we have not had any issues or citing during our surveys related to our med setup/documentation process either.

Let me know if you have any further questions!

Subject: EPIC - medication set up documentation

Hello,

My agency will be implementing Epic and it doesn’t appear there is a good method for documenting medication set up that meets MN licensure requirements.  Are there any Epic agencies that are willing to share how they use Epic to document med sets to comply with CoPs and MN licensure requirements?  Any survey issues?

The option we are being given involves copy/pasting the med list information and modifying…not ideal!  Hoping others may have come up with a workable solution they are willing to share.

Thanks!
