For VA Payer and VA provider: we request a referral from VA before we start care, which gives us the verbal OK to provide care until the POC is signed.

For Medicare Payer and VA provider: that is when it gets sticky and is the current problem we are trying to solve for.

And to expand on that a little more…how do you get orders after an admission to create your plan of care? What do you do if another visit is needed before you get your signed POC?

Jessica – the VA likes to make corrections on our POC after a recert which is nice, but not timely communication for med set-ups.

Being that the VA does not give verbal orders – how are other agencies managing medication clarifications / updates to their providers? We have a hard time keeping the med list updated because of this. Jessica Kirchoff OTR/L, MBA Manager,
