Another example I found :

“Participation” means that the patient is given options regarding care choices and preferences. For example, patient preferences should be respected in encouraging the patient to choose between a bath and a shower, unless there are physical restrictions or medical contraindications that limit patient choice.

HI Kathy. The first thing that pops into my mind is taking the patient’s preferences in to consideration for schedules. Finding out what days/times they prefer to have home visits and working to accommodate those as much as possible.

I hoping some of you can help answer the following questions that came in through the consultant emails!

“can you please clarify and give some examples of "patient care preferences" as referred in the COP 484.55 (c)(2). I reviewed the CMS intent guidelines and it is very vague.”

Thanks everyone!

Kind Regards,
