Hi Becky,

The CARES Act changed the federal law when it was signed 3/27/2020 – the relevant content of the change is on page 179, section 4407, starting at line 9.

Technically CMS has 6 months to update their regulations to comply with the new law. Because of all the COVID waiver activity, they have not yet (to my knowledge) done that formal updating  yet, but by allowing NPPs authority in the waivers already, they are showing their intent to update regulations soon.

I hope that is enough for the VA!

Subject: NP/PA ordering home care services

Does anyone know where I could find proof that the NP/PA signing for home care orders are permanent. The VA wants this as they want proof that it’s a permanent change before they change around all of their processes for home care orders. If we can get them to recognize this change, it will help us all. 😊
