I think this maintenance therapy topic is really important right now so I am sending this education in case it could benefit any of your agencies or the work that the Medicare workgroup or perhaps Rehab team decides to do this year. Or, maybe the Education workgroup will pursue a speaker for a future conference??

Has anyone had the chance to listen to a maintenance therapy education yet?

Have a great day,

Katie

Maintenance Therapy - Embrace the Benefit

We had the privilege of sitting on an education call with the Medical Director of NGS last week.  The call was intended for therapy documentation education in relation to Targeted Probe and Educate programs.

The medical director mentioned Maintenance Therapy throughout the call and it was very encouraging.  This is a benefit we owe our patients and it is important you get it right.  Those of you that are hesitant to do Maintenance Therapy in your agency are probably already doing it but have not been documenting it correctly nor are you using the appropriate revenue coding..
.
Not only do we have a ready made Maintenance Therapy webinar series but Cindy and Dee have also written a book to help agencies fully understand and begin embracing this benefit.

 Much discussion and interest has been generated since the Jimmo v Sebelius ruling, but the issue of maintenance therapy was a component of the Medicare Part A Home Health Benefit long before that court case. Currently, many home health agencies, as well as their therapy staff, have limited or no experience in addressing the issue of maintenance therapy.  CIndy Krafft and Dee Kornetti wrote the book on Maintenance Therapy, they are considered the industry experts in this area.

Kornetti & Krafft Health Care Solutions frequently receive questions and concerns about  maintenance therapy in the home health setting, particularly on issues like

  • proper beneficiary identification;
  • supportive documentation;
  • therapy utilization; and
  • billing procedures.

Getting this information right is critical for any organization to ensure that the revenue generated by this arm of the home health benefit is soundly protected in the audit-intensive environment in the industry.

This webinar series will provide the attendee/participant with clear and concise information about the do’s & don’ts of home health maintenance therapy. Presentation and discussion will include guidelines for therapy documentation, utilization, proper billing codes, and patient scenarios.

Let us help you improve your quality and reduce your cost.

We provide Coding and OASIS Review services.
Please leave name, email and agency info at link above.

Outsourcing Coding and OASIS services takes the headache out of having to keep up with coding updates.  We use only certified coding and OASIS professionals and concentrate on providing top-notch customer service.

We only use US based coders and reviewers as we believe your patient's PHI should be as secure as possible.

This is only part of what we can provide your agency. Allow us to assist you in becoming prepared and stress-free for the changes that take effect 10/1/18 in the  new coding guidelines and give you more time to prepare for upcoming OASIS D implementation on 1/1/19.

As we audit records across the country it became very evident that in the time of the electronic record and the ever present "check box" the basics of documentation are lost.  We suggest a product that will help your staff get back to the basic, fundamental roots of all good documentation, the SOAP note.
