Thanks for your response!
Correct, she would not be the primary provider or certifying practitioner.
Prior to this change in regulation, she would round in the facilities and perform the F2F so the patient would not have to go in the clinic.
What is your thought on ‘directly admitted to home health? Would that be within 14-days from SOC?

That is our understanding. Has to be the certifying provider unless coming from hospital or inpatient. In the case they are coming from the hospital, the F2F still has to identify who the certifying MD will be, our intake team always calls
to confirm that of course.
Is the NP not a primary provider and/or will not be the certifying practitioner?

Hello!
We have a question as it related to the new changes as of January 1st under “Conforming Regulations text changes regarding allowed practitioners” Page 103 of 528 of the CMS Final Rule.
Our interpretation of this is that if the patient comes from an acute or post-acute facility and is directly admitted to home health, we can use a F2F that is performed by an inpatient provider. But if the patient is a community referral or has not had an inpatient stay that the F2F must be done by the primary, certifying provider.
We are asking as one of the NP’s that we work with within a few of our IL/AL buildings says she was told by her clinic system that she can perform the F2F on the facility patients regardless of whether she is the primary provider.
Any insight you have would be appreciated!
Jess
