I wanted to loop back and let you know what I learned when I did follow-up on Jim and Greg’s questions regarding the dues revenue. I discovered two factors: a double entry for dues revenue in July and some dues adjustments not getting captured in the transfer from the database to QuickBooks. The bottom line is that the financials were not correct but the membership reports were.

I apologize for not catching the July error. I clearly didn’t do a thorough analysis of the July revenue. And, there was a breakdown in a checks and balances procedure I had put into place to ensure the dues revenue was accurately accounted for. The individuals responsible for this have been reminded to meet on a regular basis and ensure that the dues in the membership reports and financial statements are matching. I accept responsibility for that and will monitor it more closely going forward.

I am still waiting on the updated October financials but they will be in the board packet; you’ll see a footnote regarding the month of October being off, but the YTD will be accurate.
