This is a repost. If anyone can assist – it is appreciated. Thanks.
MHCA has had two questions related to NF2 facilities (Medicaid certified, non-Medicare certified). Please see the question below.
"There is a facility in our area that states they are a “NF2” facility (Boarding Care Home licensed with Medicaid certification, but not Medicare certified). They provide basic nursing and aide cares to patients under Medicaid and private
pay only. They are not classified as assisted living or a SNF, but state they bill as a NF2 (nursing facility level 2). Because of their licensing, they are unable to provide skilled services (specifically wound ostomy nursing care and PT/OT/ST services)
to their patients and must have a contract in place with other providers who come in and provide Medicare skilled services to their residents.
We don’t believe that, as a home health agency, we are able to provide Medicare home care services to patients that reside in a NF2 licensed facility. They are the only facility of this type in our area, and they are adamant that we can
do this.
Has anyone had experience providing home care services in a NF2 licensed facility; and, if so, how was this billed?
Thanks,
Connie
