We do a discharge from medicare and start private pay or any other new insurance with the effective date of the next day.

Question regarding change in payer from Medicare to Private pay or other ins. How do other agencies handle the billing in cases like this? Can they do a discharge and SOC on the same day and only bill Medicare or do we send the nurse out the next day and bill for a SOC? What dates are the nurses using as the start of care for the new insurance? Not sure if this is all related to billing but maybe someone had encountered the same issue. Any suggestions or places that this could be looked up would be greatly appreciated.
