FYI: Home health and hospice claims are being returned to providers when dementia is the primary diagnosis.
This is an error within the CMS system. CMS made a change to an edit in the Integrated Outpatient Code Editor (IOCE) based on the instructions in Change Request 13992. The update had unintended consequences and is causing the edit to apply to a variety of
bill types it shouldn't. CMS has instructed the MACs to apply a workaround to these claims until a solution is reached.
