I believe when they have a working age plan that does not pay 100% the remainder could be billed to Medicare as secondary? That is the only circumstance we have seen.

Can someone clarify when billing Medicare secondary claims is appropriate? Right now it doesn’t seem like our facility has anyone that we would do this for unless they are an auto accident and the pip runs out.
Thank you!

Hi, Mary.
I just recently submitted my first Medicare Secondary Payor claim, and it’s in suspense at the moment so I can’t offer much advice here.
Are you able to get into the FISS/DDE system and look at your denied claim there? Sometimes the error screens in FISS include a little more information than just “each line item has denied.”
Good luck!

Anyone else having issues with MDCR paying secondary claims? They are giving us really vague denials “each line item has denied” –but no details.
