Hello Sheila,

Yes, at least for the St Could VA.  Sometimes the St Cloud VA will make the first referral a Bundled one, even if it is

for SN only.  When it comes time to renew, most likely your next authorization will be Non-Bundled for the patient.

I just got an authorization that is labeled as bundled but the only service is nurse no therapies.  Would you still bill it as bundled?

Marnie,

I can’t believe I was not ever taught this. The nurse that took the referral always entered in the auths. I never knew that there was a different way to bill. My question is do you think that I can go back and cancel the claim and send it like a PDGM? Also are you related to a Tony Pogreba?

Thanks

laurie

Bundled is kind of like the VA’s version of a Medicare episode.  The patient does not need to meet Medicare criteria, but you will bill the claim just like Medicare, using PDGM billing.  The VA generally uses Bundled authorizations when Therapy is ordered.

Non-Bundled is billed per visit and not like Medicare.  It would be billed like your commercial claims.  However, the billing codes will be G codes.

On page two of the authorization it will tell you if the authorization is Bundled or Non-Bundled.

I hope this helps.

Can someone explain to me exactly what bundled and non-bundled means and how are they billed differently.

Thank you
