If you don't get resolution to the claims within 30 days, contact your VA billing department (our is Fargo VA - Randy Wippler)  I contacted her last time and she reported to the "higher" ups at VA about the Optum processing problem and wants to be kept informed as to when these type of problems happen.

I had the same denials again. This is that system issue everyone was having with December claims. Some of my January claims went through just fine, others did not. I sent in a spreadsheet again yesterday noting that value code 61 is not required for nonbundled claims. I checked in the site today and one of them was already processed to pay I haven't looked through the others yet. Fingers crossed they get it fixed for good this time!

I just got off a chat with optum va and she told me it's a known issue and to give them "30 days" to correct in their system and the incorrectly denied claims would be reprocessed.

I ended up taking out the 61 and 85 value codes and using rev code 0580 with S5150 code. That seemed to work for a few claims- waiting for the others to come back now.

Okay, did anyone else get the new dumb denial from VA? 

    N843 - Missing/incomplete/invalid Core-Based Statistical Area (CBSA) code.

All of my claims have the 61 CBSA number as well as the 85 value code. The representative told me via chat that the number was incorrect. Our software vendor confirmed the CBSA number from CMS for 2024. What the heck is VA doing now? I swear it is just one issue after another with them. I have so many claims denied!
