The issue is that they are calling the veterans and asking run around questions about what services they get and what they are able to do themselves in the home. The veterans will make themselves sound better than they truly are because
they are proud, and then they get their services cut. We have one client with stroke history and they took away all of his shower assistance. Another client said we set up an extra set of medications for him in case of storms, and they cut his nursing auth
in half.

Oh OK. This is good to know. And maybe we can get in touch with someone from the VA to help us navigate this. Not answering the phone is NOT a valid reason to say they don’t need services.

They are calling our veterans and some down play their needs and we have to fight to get them back once va decides to decrease or cut all together.
We try to review all the services we provide at every visit but some are forgetful or too proud

They are calling our veterans and some down play their needs and we have to fight to get them back once va decides to decrease or cut all together. We try to review all the services we provide at every visit but
some are forgetful or too proud to tell the VA nurse who calls them and ask what services we provide for them. So far we have been successful in pleading our case. One veteran has trouble getting to the phone before they hang up and so the va couldn’t get
hold of him and decided he is never home and doesn’t need home health. Which is totally false. We had to arrange a time when the aide was there so she could get the phone for him.

Hello! Wondering if anyone else has been running into issues with getting authorization from the VA? They’ve been changing their processes for giving veterans auth by having it go through a different review process,
and we are having lots of veterans getting their essential services cut. I could see many veterans losing needed services and having a hard time getting care in the future if these practices continue.
