Good Morning,
Now the latest in my Ucare claims being denied is they are telling me we have to bill with an UMPI #.
We have never registered for an UMPI # for Home Care and my boss is wondering if everybody else out there is billing with an UMPI? She said we only have NPI’s for Home Care.
Can somebody send me something showing this changed in 2023 where it states we have to bill with an UMPI?

Hi Becky
For Elderly waivered services would be billed under your UMPI each UMPI will need to add into UCare payment system. You would do that by filling out the add form.

(Send me an email once you have sent in the add form let me know the confirmation numbers so I can escalate getting your UMPI’s added)
You are registered under MN-DHS for EW services under UMPI’s. A609173000 and A283953400

Next step is to get an authorization from the care coordinator for the elderly waivered services and sent it to clinical services.
All EW service does require authorization see the resource PDF above.

I received your message, I have never sent a claim with the UMPI – did this change effective Jan 1 2023? As I have been billing these patients for years.
I have a message into my boss as I don’t even know our UMPI #.
Second, I called our county case workers for the patients involved and she said they don’t have to do authorizations on Ucare EW people……
Do you know where this is posted so I can show them this requirement?
