Poor guy can’t catch a break! I would definitely call Medicare on this one. I’m thinking they will say you will have to do a new SOC as he will likely have an open MSP file for
the auto insurer (which will become primary), but I’m curious if they will say you should just continue seeing him under the current episode but do a follow up for a significant change in condition. Please let us know what they tell you!

I have a problem I have not dealt with in the past. One of our Medicare client’s went to a doctor appt in Fargo. He is a retired cop and saw an accident so got out to take pictures and see if he could help. The
fellow who had caused the accident came running back across the parking lot, jumped in his car and back over our patient. He is now home. What do I do at this point. Do we need to discharge from Medicare and do a new start of care? I haven’t called his
insurance company yet. I haven’t had this happen in the middle of an episode. We have had them come home after an accident and need to get a denial before we can bill Medicare.
Anyone dealt with something like this before?
