We have a new patient with a diagnosis of lung cancer.  Her supplies include Pleurx procedure pack, catheter supplies to drain her chest tube, which are very expensive ($770 for a 2 wk supply).  Does anyone know if we are required to supply these types of supplies for a medicare home care episode – or if there is a cheaper alternative to try to request?  One of our nurses pointed out that we aren’t required to cover the supplies when they have a wound vac – is this similar?.

Thank you.
