Well the biggest problem we have is payment for VA claims. It takes up to 6 months or more to get paid on claims. They deny for no auth/auth exceeded, but neither are the case. Auth is always in place, and on the claims. Then when
we attempt to call and find out why the claim denies for no auth/auth exceeded, the claims reps cannot even view the claims, and can only see the reason for denial. They have an automated claims processing system, but no reps with access to view the actual
claims it seems. It takes submitting each claim up to about 6 times before it gets processed for payment. It’s been a very big challenge.

Subject: VA Coverage
Hey all, QUICK, I have a call with a legislative aide at 2:00 who wants an update on VA clients – both payment issues (which my understanding are much less now that Optum has begun after the nightmare that was TriWest), and also how COVID
is hitting veterans.
Anything that you can share will help me out!
Thanks so much -
